Reproductive ageing affects both individuals and wider society, and obstetricians and gynaecologists are witness to the impact of reproductive ageing and to some of the fears and misapprehensions of the general public. This book raises awareness of societal trends and their implications. The wider importance of the subject to the whole of society is emphasized by contributions from outside the world of obstetrics and gynaecology, both within and outside medicine. The 56th RCOG Study Group brought together a range of experts to examine reproductive ageing. This book presents the findings of the Study Group, with sections covering: • background to ageing and demographics • basic science of reproductive ageing • pregnancy: the ageing mother and medical needs • the outcomes: children and mothers • future fertility insurance: screening, cryopreservation or egg donors? • sex beyond and after fertility • fertility treatment: science and reality - the NHS and the market • the future: dreams and waking up.

As compared with cytology's use in other organ systems, direct cytological examination of the endometrium is not a widely practiced diagnostic procedure. This volume highlights endometrial cytology as an effective method for ensuring endometrial normalcy and discovering and diagnosing malignant and premalignant states. Endometrial Cytology with Tissue Correlations covers the background, collection technique, diagnostic criteria and pitfalls, as well as reliability of endometrial cytology. This volume, part of the Essentials in Cytopathology book series, fits into the lab coat pocket and is ideal for portability and quick reference. Each volume in the series is heavily illustrated with a full color art program, while the text follows a user-friendly outline format. John A. Maksem, M.D., is Director of Cytopathology, Orlando Health, Orlando, Florida. Stanley J. Robboy, M.D., is Head of Gynecologic & Obstetrical Pathology, Department of Pathology, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. John W. Bishop, M.D., is HS Clinical Professor of Pathology, University of California, Davis, Sacramento, California. There are an estimated 41,000 new cases of Uterine and Endometrial Cancer each year in the United States alone, resulting in roughly 7300 deaths. In Uterine Cancer: Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment, Franco Muggia, Esther Oliva and a panel of prominent medical and gynecologic oncologists survey all aspects of Uterine and Endometrial Cancer, including current screening methods, staging and prognostic factors, and available treatment options. The discussion includes the role of imaging in the diagnosis and treatment of endometrial cancer, the molecular pathology and genetics of uterine cancer and the essential epidemiology of cancer of the endometrium. Authoritative and highly practical, Uterine Cancer: Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment is the definitive text on the most common cancer of the female genital tract, and a must-have for all gynecological residents and fellows, as well as gynecological oncologists and family practice doctors who wish to provide their patients with the best possible care.
